Appeal from Citizenship Judge's decision appellant without sufficient knowledge of Canada to be granted citizenship-Appellant applied for citizenship and was given booklet instructing applicants not to memorize all details contained therein but to be prepared to answer general questions concerning Canada to demonstrate knowledge of country and political system-Citizenship Judge denied appellant citizenship because could not answer certain questions: (1) year of proclamation of Canada's official colours; (2) date of proclamation of maple leaf flag; (3) Canada's head of state; (4) name of first Prime Minister; (5) year Canada joined United Nations; (6) name of first black person elected to House of Commoms; (7) term of office of Governor General-Enormously unfair to treat people this way-Kind of questions you need to memorize every detail set out in materials given to applicants-Appellant demonstrated clearly sufficient knowledge of Canada to be granted citizenship-Appeal allowed.
